Minnesota Commercial Real Estate Women President's Message

Dear MNCREW members, I would first like to thank Meghan Huber for doing an outstanding job as MNCREW President this past year. There were several accomplishments including a sold-out race for Women Run the Cities (WRTC)—thanks to all MNCREW members and companies who supported this event. The sponsorship opportunities were revamped to allow any level of giving and ensure you can pick specific events or items to support—there is still time to send in your sponsorship and we appreciate your support. The bylaws and membership categories were updated to stay inline with CREW Network.

I am honored to serve as your 2010 president and excited about the opportunity that 2010 brings for all of us. It’s been a challenging two years but I truly think things are beginning to turn around. My big initiative this year is to make this the Year of the Referral for all MNCREW members. Being in real estate we’ve all focused on location, location, location but this year please think referral, referral, referral. Increasing our referrals to one another will bring each of us more opportunities. I was fortunate to refer 15 deals to MNCREW members throughout 2009 by making it a point on each deal to think who else could help get this deal completed. I challenge you to create a list of two members for every category of business (i.e. attorney, broker, environmental, developer, title, etc.) so that it’s top of mind and try to refer them as many deals as possible throughout the year.

Then please be sure to nominate each of those referrals to be highlighted in our new In the Spotlight recognition program at each monthly meeting and included in the newsletter. Download a nomination form for In the Spotlight to recognize a fellow member.

Please also begin watching for CREW Speak at our monthly luncheons, board meetings and committee meetings. This is another way for MNCREW members to relay one business need they currently have which hopefully will turn into a deal with another member. I highly suggest getting involved with a committee which is an excellent way to meet new people and continue to develop relationships. If you have interest please give me a call and I’d be happy to help you find the right fit. I am enthusiastic about the year and opportunities that lie ahead for each of us.

Happy New Year.

Sincerely,
Deborah Vannelli, CCIM

Bring your used cell phones to the February 17th program to benefit the Domestic Abuse Project

We ask that you support the work of DAP by donating your used cell phone(s) and related accessories, or by collecting and delivering used cell phones from your friends and co-workers. All donated cell phones are refurbished and all personal information removed. They are then provided to clients as a life-saving resource by allowing them access to 911 only, or they are sold for recycling with the proceeds used to support DAP programs.

If you are interested in donating, but cannot attend the meeting, you can make arrangements for delivery by contacting Ellen Halverson (651-230-4543) or Kathy Yip, Best & Flanagan, LLP (612-341-9737).

Thank you for your generous donations which will allow those affected by violence in our community know that we are working together to create a world free of domestic abuse.

In the Spotlight Awards

The Member Services Committee would like to announce the start of a new monthly recognition program "In The Spotlight." The spirit of this contest is to recognize our members' successes and to announce projects or deals completed.  This will NOT take the place of our annual CREWie awards and likely nominations for "In The Spotlight" could also be nominated for the annual CREWIE awards. Anyone can fill out a form to nominate themselves or someone else. The recognition will be an announcement at each monthly luncheon as well as in the MNCREW newsletter. Drop off completed forms at the next monthly program or email to Nancy Landmark at nancyl@cptitle.com.
